Pillar #1: Planet

Our commitments to limit the impact of our activities on the planet.

Reducing our carbon impact and our overall environmental impact is a priority.

We are thus working on the reduction of our overall carbon footprint, on limiting the environmental impact of our operations,

but also on the eco-design of our packaging, the fight against food waste and the preservation of biodiversity.

Reduce our carbon footprint

OUR COMMITMENTS

Délifrance has historically been committed to an ambitious greenhouse gas emissions reduction plan, validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) at the group level to which we belonged in June 2024. Today, we are carrying on this trajectory with the desire to maintain the highest standards in the fight against climate change. We are actively working to implement the necessary measures to obtain a new SBTi certification in the coming months, in order to ensure the continuity and credibility of our commitment.

We are focusing our efforts on our three main sources of carbon emissions:

Our raw materials, in particular Butter, Flour and Cocoa

Our energy consumption, focusing on 3 main levers:

The deployment of heat recovery systems,

The purchase of renewable electricity,

Replacing high Global Warming Potential refrigerants with low-impact gases.

The transport of our products, encouraging the implementation of more low-impact solutions, such as : alternatives to fossil fuels, electric fleets, eco-driving, speed limit, etc.

Limit the environmental impact of our sites

OUR COMMITMENTS

Délifrance owns 14 production sites, based both in France and abroad. Délifrance’s objective is to limit the impact of these sites.

Optimising our water and energy consumption, reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, improving our waste management, recovering our co-products, limiting pollution, and preserving biodiversity: 93% of our sites are compliant with the commitments of the Environmental Charter adopted in 2022.

This is a fine example of harmonising practices to benefit the planet, paving the way for new opportunities.

OUR TARGETS

100% of our sites with a defined HSEE roadmap by June 2026

100% of our sites equipped with an energy management system (ISO 50001) by 2027 in France and 2030 internationally

Measure our impact on biodiversity

OUR COMMITMENTS

Biodiversity is a major topic, intertwined with all other environmental issues, including climate change.

In order to implement an impactful approach,we are purchasing a precise evaluation of our impact on biodiversity starting with our impact around our production sites, and extending it in a second phase to our whole value chain.

It will enable us to define the most relevant action plans to limit our footprint on fauna and flora.

OUR TARGETS

100% of our sites management committees in Europe participate in a “Biodiversity Fresco” workshop (or equivalent) by 2027.

Map biodiversity ataround each of our production sites to define appropriate conservation plans by the end of 2026.

Adopt ecodesigned packaging

OUR COMMITMENTS

As many companies in the food industry, packaging is essential to protect, preserve, transport and sell our products. It needs to remain safe and convenient for our clients. This being said, it is essential for us to keep working to design and produce packaging with the lowest impact possible on the environment.

Thanks to the work of our teams, we have already made great progress. For example, we have reduced the consumption of plastic pallet wrap at our Romans-sur-Isère site by 20 to 30%, depending on the production line. This initiative will serve as an example and will be rolled out across all sites by the end of 2026. Next year will also see the completion of our project to reduce the thickness of consumer packs, which will ultimately enable us to reduce plastic consumption by 15% for this packaging category.

Today, we have already reached 99,9%¹ of recyclable packaging and 99.2% of FSC-certified corrugated cardboard within Europe.

¹ The marginal difference corresponds to very specific benchmarks that will be replaced in 2026 to reach 100%.

OUR TARGETS (within Europe)

100% recyclable packaging and 100% FSC-certified corrugated cardboard , by end of 2026

Work on eco-designing our packaging and reach-10% of plastic by 2030 compared to 2025.

In order to achieve our ambitious packaging targets, we are collectively working on :
•    Reducing the weight of and number of components in our packaging.
•    Replacing plastic with cardboard or paper wherever possible.
•    Increasing the proportion of recycled materials, while complying with food safety regulations.

Fight against food waste

OUR COMMITMENTS

As a food manufacturer, we are committed to limiting food waste to contribute to the global food security.

We have implemented a 4-step procedure across all sites, to prevent food waste and promote a responsible use of resources: the sale of products on alternative markets, destocking, donations to charities and, finally, animal feed.

99.5% of our co-products have been recovered in 2024-2025.  Regular donation campaigns and work with Too Good To Go (in Italy and Belgium) enables us to valorise unsold finished goods.More than 39 000 boxes of products were donated to charities in 2024-2025.

• Anti-food waste projects allow us to find new creative solutions against food waste. For example, recycling 3.8 tons of unsold bread from our Dunkirk site into breadcrumbs through the No Waste Republic start-up.

We plan to pursue our partnership with Too Good To Go while also creating long-term partnerships with associations, and food banks at a global level.

OUR TARGETS

Extend the commitment made in the UK, as part of WRAP2, to reduce food waste by 50% by 2030 (vs 2019), to all our subsidiaries.

Maintain a rate of co-products recovery rate of 95%

Identify new solutions for our products near-end-life and develop anti-waste recipes for our customers

Interview of Marine Laurent

Our HSE Director comes back on our new roadmap to reduce the impact of our operations:

Thanks to the roll-out of the Environmental Charter, each site now has the foundations for an effective environmental management system.

This allows us to set new, ever more ambitious goals. We are therefore working with HSE representatives and site managers to define our HSEE policy for 2030. We have also set up a monthly HSEE Committee to improve the monitoring of indicators and promote the exchange of best practices between sites.

A real collective dynamic is taking shape on environmental issues!
